Frequently Asked Questions

Can you estimate to restore my furniture from a photograph?
Yes! Please send or email a photograph of the furniture, ideally with close ups of the damaged areas. Descriptions of the damage, type of material the item is made of, etc, all help us to estimate more accurately. All our estimates are subject to confirmation once the item is in our workshop.
Can I book an estimate appointment for a specific time?
Where possible we give a 2-3 hour time band for the appointment, allowing this flexibility as we can't predict the traffic conditions on the day, or how much time a client wishes to spend discussing the restoration. However, our estimator can phone you whilst en route to advise his anticipated arrival time.
How long will the estimate appointment take?
This depends on how many items are to be viewed. Our estimator will need time to inspect the items thoroughly, photograph them and make some notes. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask at this stage, and the estimator will be able to tell you more about the restoration involved.
Do you charge a fee for estimates?
Private estimates within our immediate local area are free of charge. For insurance estimates, and for private customers living outside this area we charge a fee of £50.00 plus expenses plus VAT. Expenses are charged at 50 pence per mile. Please contact us for more information.
Is this fee refundable if I choose to have the restoration carried out?
We do not refund estimate fees. This charge is for our estimators time, including time spent researching materials, manufacturer's fittings etc. If the estimate is for an insurance claim, we will be happy to deal with insurers directly on your behalf.
How soon after the estimate can the restoration be carried out?
We endeavour to send estimates out within 5 working days of the estimate; We require written acceptance of the estimate before arranging collection. We will then contact you to book the collection.
How long does restoration take to carry out?
Depending on the number of items, and the nature of the work, as a general rule, restoration is usually completed between 2 and 6 weeks. Once complete, we'll call you to arrange delivery. To get a more accurate idea of timescale, please contact us once your furniture is in our workshop.
